yeast infection

Hi - I was treated with antibiotics for a urine infection and a day after taking the first dose developed vaginal yeast infection. Should I keep taking the antibiotics? Can I transmit the yeast infection to the baby (I'm breastfeeding)? thanks

yest infection

Urinary infection should be treated seriously. On the other hand it might be that the urinary infection was caused by yeast too, in this case it might not react to the usual antibiotic treatment. Did you have an urine culture before starting the antibiotic treatment? If not ,I wouldn't recommend continuation of the treatment without an previous culture. Anyway , you should probably treat the vaginal yeast in the same time. Adress all these questions to your gyncologist. Wash thoroughly your hands before touching your baby and the risk of transmiting the infection to the baby will be almost non existing. Dr Mila Barak
