The cause of cirrhosis could be viral infection or hepatitis B, C and D. Several drugs and toxins also cause cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is characterized by 3 stages- a) The first stage is with enlarged liver. In this stage of early cirrhosis, homoeopathic treatment is very effective. b) In the second stage, the atrophy of liver occurs and this is difficult to treat although results with homoeopathy are good. c) The third stage is characterized by complications like- ascites, oesophageal varices, kidney failure or hepatic encephalopathy. Recovery in the third stage is difficult. However, homoeopathic treatment is found to treat the complications also. The modern medicine has very little to offer for cirrhotic patients. The cirrhotic patient must be given benefit of homoeopathic treatment.
