ג'פה - ביוגרפיה

Jepha Howard

26 year old Jepha Howard, the bassist of The Used, was born on January 4th of 1979. He grew up in Utah. His parents are divorced and he has no siblings. His dad was an inactive Mormon, so he didn’t know much about it. He was also a boy scout when he was younger. He wishes he had gotten into music earlier in his life. During elementary school, Jepha used to talk to himself a lot which made him have few friends until his high school days. He worked as a cook and a baker before he got signed. Then he and Branden had started a band. He tried being a singer because there was already a bass player. He claims that his voice closes up under any kind of pressure, so he wouldn’t be able to scream or sing that well. That band broke up and they later called Bert and started the Used. After the Used were signed, Jepha still remains down-to-earth and nice as ever. He loves listening to bands like Dillenger Escape Plan, The Bled and Glassjaw. Hess now a vegetarian and likes to watch horror movies, get tattooed, and play bass. He writes a blog on theusednation.com now also. He has an obsession with Japanese stuff, and he has a partly Japanese themed house. His ceilings are black, and his walls are red. He is a conspiracy freak too, he doesn’t believe in war. Hess still very spacey in his mind too. Now he shares a tour bus with Bert McCracken and Quinn Allman on the “party“ bus. Although Jepha drinks occasionally, he chooses not to party hard. He loves piercings and tattoos, he recently has a new tattoo on his hand. In ‘In Love and Death’ he writes, "and to all the people that try to use me as a carpet, FUCK YOU!!!!"​

He is the second oldest member of The Used. *Jeph's parents divorced when he was very young. *He is an only child born. *Used to work as a cook and baker before The Used got signed with Reprise Records. *His father is an inactive Mormon. *His father was the person that got him interested in music. *Jeph is only about 5'7". *Used to have dreadlocks. *Sometimes rides a tourbus with drummer Branden Steineckert, but occasionally rides the bus with guitarist Quinn Allman and singer Bert McCracken. *Jeph is a vegetarian and involved with PETA. *Believes in UFOs. *Used to be a boy scout. *In public school he did not have many friends because he used to talk to himself a lot. *While touring, Jeph oftentimes will update the band's fan database, The Used Nation. *Jeph became a father at the age of 19. However, he is not allowed see his daughter very often due to issues with her mother. He does however say she is "in the back of my head everyday." *Jeph has more than 10 piercings and has spent well over $2000 on tattoos. Interested in Japan and the Japanese culture. *He is apparently the nicest member of The Used. *Drinks alcohol in moderation. Does not smoke or do drugs. *He practices his bass guitar on a regular basis. *He enjoys drawing, going on the computer, and playing video games. *Jeph believes that bassists should have no boundaries and there are no rules to playing bass.​

Quinn Allman

23 year old Quinn Allman, guitarist of the Used, was born on January 18, 1982. Quinn grew up in Utah. Quinn is the funny, crazy type of guy. He describes himself as generous, colorful, passionate, creative and insecure. Growing up, Quinn was very shy and argued with his teachers in high school a lot. The first sport he was ever into was Baseball, he was a shortstop. At a very young age, Quinn started being in bands. His first band was a band called “Hey Santos!”. At age 15, he became a member of The Used, drawing influences from bands such as Face to Face, Golfinger, Thursday, Kenna, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World and one of his favorites, New Transit Direction. He also currently listens to bands like The Killers and The Mars Volta. Before they even got a chance to be signed, which would be years later, Quinn worked a few jobs. His very first job was at Arby’s. His last job, before the band got signed, was at a golf course. Quinn actually liked this job a bit. He got to get up early, and mow the lawn while blasting his favorite music and watching the sunset. Of course, nothing could be better to him than getting a record deal. After getting a deal, Quinn still loves film, music, and collecting old bicycles. Quinn had written the song, On My Own and came up with the video concept idea for All That I’ve Got. He has also gone through quite a few arrests, one being for no good reason in Florida. Cops say it was for “trespassing”. His first arrest was for stealing. Quinn has stolen quite a bit. But he has also felt very secure with everything in his life, and taken up drugs. He now rides on the “party” bus.​

On April 8, 2003, Quinn was arrested while signing autographs after a concert in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. He attempted to prevent police Lieutenant J.T. Crotty from arresting female fan Crystal Joanne Gordon on charges of loitering the nearby parking lot. Quinn claimed that the police officer accused Gordon and other fans of trespass. Crotty had reportedly already placed handcuffs on Gordon and a male fan when Quinn intervened and was arrested for "opposing an officer". Quinn was held for twenty-two hours for "opposing an officer" and was released with a fine of $153. He stated afterward that the police had mistreated him. His report of the incident includes being strip searched , placed in shackles with fifty other prisoners, placed from one prison cell to another for hours and being constantly taunted by police officers and never allowed to make a telephone call. He claimed that the officers even listened to the music of The Used and dismissed it as hippie Rock and roll . Quinn reported that a male police officer claimed that if their music was anything like fellow band Dixie Chicks, Quinn would be worth to be let out. Quinn reported this treatment to be inhumane. The incident forced The Used to cancel their concert in Athens, Georgia that was scheduled for April 9, 2003.​

Branden Steineckert

26 year old Branden Steineckert, born on April 21st of 1978, is the drummer of The Used. He grew up in Utah in a Mormon home with his siblings. His parents divorced, and his mother remarried. Unfortunately, his father had killed himself which left Branden shocked. He took up drums as a way to cope at age 16. He lived in 21 different houses before he moved out when he was 17. As for sports, he took up skateboarding at age 11. Later on, he got his first job at Wendy's. And lastly, he got a job unpacking boxes at Burlington Coat Factory which he hated. Branden had dropped out of school and decided being in a band would be a better job. He influences come from bands as Rancid, Snot, and Social Distortion. His first band was called Strange Itch, which lasted five years, but all the original members had left the band. He later started a band with his roommate, Jepha and guitarist Quinn. They finally found Bert as the singer and got signed. Even being a rockstar, Branden has never done a drink, drug or cigarette in his entire life, nor has he been arrested. He is the cleanest member in the band. Of course, it had been hard for him to be on the same bus as lead singer, Bert McCracken, who smokes and drinks a lot. They got two separate tour buses, now Branden is on the non-smoking bus with other roadies, and the merch girl, Spike. As for home life, Branden lives in a custom-built house with his girlfriend and two dogs, Radio and Hope. He loves to spend time with his girlfriend, friends and family. He recently has started up his own skateboarding company, Twenty Twenty Skateboards. Steineckert is now an influence for many up and coming bands in the future.​

In 1989, when Branden was 11 years old, his father committed suicide, after which he picked up skateboarding as a way to release himself from his problems. He would later drop out of high school and work at a department store opening boxes, where he was raised by a bunch of rats. In 1994 at the age of 16, Branden decided to learn how to play the drums because his late father also played drums at around his age. Before joining The Used as the drummer, he was a singer in a local band. Despite the environment he grew up in, and the people he hung out with, Branden has claimed to have never tried tobacco smoking, alcoholic beverages or recreational drug use in his life. In 2005 he founded the skateboard company twenty twenty skateboards, with Alex Pardee as Art Director.​

כי זה קצר ואני צריכה ללכת חח אחר כך אני אמשיך עם הביוגרפיה או עם ברט ב-1989, כשברנדן היה בן 11, אבא שלו התאבד, אחר כך הוא בחר בסקייטבורדינג כדרך לשחרר את עצמו מהבעיות שלו. מאוחר יותר הוא נשר מהתיכון ועבד בפתיחת קופסאות בחנות כלבו, where he was raised by a bunch of rats. (אין לי מושג מזה אומר) ב1994 בגיל 16 ברנדן החליט ללמוד לנגן על תופים בגלל שאביו היה גם מתופף בגיל הזה בערך. לפני שהצטרף ליוזד כמתופף הוא היה שמר בלהקה מקומית (תמיד אמרתי שהוא שר יפה!). למרות הסביבה בה הוא גדל והאנשים איתם הסתובב, ברנדן התחייב לא לנסות אף פעם לעשן טבק, משקאות אלכוהוליים או להשתמש בסמים בחייו. ב2005 הוא מצא(?) את חברת הסקייטבורד twenty twenty skateboards יחד עם אלכס פארדי.
