My mom started getting suspicious last week when I told her we had to go to New York in a few days. I knew I'd be doing tons of publicity appearances that UPN had arranged for me since I had won the competition, but I told a little white lie to throw her off track. I told my mom that Shannon and Elyse would be there too, since we were the final three. She was a little taken aback because she had been planning this big Italian dinner party for all my friends and family to watch the show's finale. Needless to say, I had to skip town and missed that shindig. I finally told my mom EVERYTHING at 10:10 ET when we were already on the plane, and honestly, all she said was she already knew I got it. She's my Mom; they know everything. What was your worst point during the competition? The contact commercial was really tough, because they kept asking me to say that darn word "passion" over and over again. But I have used the past few months of being sequestered to my advantage, because I have been practicing my speech. I took choir in school and remember the exercises that we did to teach us to open up our mouths and annunciate, so basically for the past few months, I have making odd loud noises in the house. It really has helped my speech. Round one in Paris was also tough because I had to find my way around a city I had never been to and look like a model at the same time. Well, I got it half right. Since then I have learned to better maintain my look. And I kicked butt in the second round.
